Will post of excise commissioner also go on additional charge?

Ansh Deep, excise commissioner, is all set to go on central deputation as deputy secretary in Amit Shah’s ministry of cooperation. Will his post also go on additional charge after he is relieved, is a million dollar question

Ansh Deep, a 2013 batch IAS, who is serving as excise in Rajasthan government, is going on central . He has been given posting of deputy secretary in cooperative department, which is helmed by Amit Shah.

The department of personnel and training (dopt) has asked Rajasthan government to relieve Ansh Deep with immediate effect. Now the big question is, will the important post of excise commissioner will be given as additional responsibility to any other serving officer?

In normal circumstances, this looks a distant possibility. But in past the way Bhajan Lal Sharma government has worked, this can also be a reality.

In finance department of which excise is also a part, an important senior level post – chairman tax board has already been placed under additional charge with secretary in finance department –

New experiment in Bhajan Lal Sharma government

There have been several new experiments ever since Bhajan Lal Sharma government has assumed charge. A lot has been written and reported about the posting and transfer of officers. Politicians too have jumped into the ring deducing assumptions in transfer and non transfer of officers.

Amid all these cacophony, a senior principal secretary level IAS was given additional charge while remaining on APO after mid way repatriating from central deputation.

He has been given dual additional charges of chairman Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC) and principal secretary skill, employment and entrepreneurship development after Puran Chandra Kishan went on central deputation few days back.

“It's perhaps first time in the history of bureaucracy when an IAS officer is handling additional charges while remaining APO. This looks strange and a new practice,” said RC Jain, former IAS.

Today, four IAS officers – Bhanwar Lal Mehra, Rajendra Bhatt, Mohan Lal Yadav and Chitra Gupta are getting superannuated. Their posts have been given as additional responsibilities to officers without transfer.
