Alwar Collector Avichal Chaturvedi's praises on Atal Bihari Vajpayee stirred controversy after the opposition Congress alleged him to be speaking on political lines.
Congress district president Yogesh Mishra alleged that Avichal Chaturvedi was working as BJP representative.
“Collector should not speak language like politicians. I will complain about him with Governor and President.
Avichal Chaturvedi denied such allegation. He said that he was functioning as a political person.
“I spoke on the basis of facts. Such programmes have been held in past also. In those programmes people praise other former prime ministers also,” he said.
What Avichal Chaturvedi said
On the occasion of birth anniversary of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Avichal Chaturvedi heaped praises on the former prime minister.
“He was an inspiring soul. I have been listening to his speeches since I was 12 years old. He ran many coalition governments taking other parties together. Many a times there were threat of falling down of government. But he managed to run it. He was a great leader. Besides being a politician, he was also a poet. He was diligent. The nuclear test was done under his regime in Pokaran,” Chaturvedi said.
The collector said that whatever Vajpayee used to think, he would deliver.
“You can ask any villager, he will tell you how his life has changed to road connectivity in rural areas. He launched the visionary Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana under which roads are being constructed in villages. The result is before all of us,” he said.
The programme was attended by many BJP leaders including party district president Ashok Gupta and Mayor Ghanshyam Gurjar.

Who is Avichal Chaturvedi
A 2012 batch IAS officer, Avichal Chaturvedi was appointed as collector on orders of Election Commission of India during the model code of conduct. He had replaced Pukhraj Sain, who was removed by the ECI. Chaturvedi had served as district collector in Sikar and Dausa also. Before being Alwar Collector, he was serving as joint secretary PHED and was also mission director of Jal Jeevan Mission.
