The political heat in Rajasthan has singed the bureaucracy also in the state. It seems Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely following the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is investigating the alleged scam in Jal Jeevan Mission, RPSC paper leak and irregularities in purchases of DoIT.
It's rare to see a Prime Minister attacking bureaucrats in an election rally over neck deep corruption. The target is generally opposite party and political leaders.
“You can see how lockers of corrupt officers in Rajasthan are loaded with gold. Such cases are being revealed where a close officer of CM has purchased two dozen flats in a year,” Modi said without naming the officer.
The statement of Modi has created a furore in Rajasthan bureaucracy. At a time, when ED is ‘highly active' in the state, officers are trying to lie low.
“Such statements from Prime Minister only create confusion and fear. Open ended loaded statements keep people guessing,” said a senior bureaucrat.
