Vikrant Sharma from Sri Ganganagar topped 2021 examination of Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS). Priya Bajaj also from Sri Ganganagar bagged second position. In top 10 spots, candidates from Sri Ganganagar bagged three spots while one went to neighbouring Hanumangarh district. No candidate from Jaipur could figure in top 10.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has announced vacancies for 363 posts of state services and 625 posts of subordinate services.
The topper Vikrant Sharma is a mechanical engineer from BITS Pilani. He has an interest in Hindi literature. Sharma's father used to run a shop of photo copy. After graduation from BITS Pilani, Sharma got a placement with Tata Steel in Jamshedpur at a salary of Rs 8 lakh per annum. But he wanted to get into civil services. He left the job, came back in 2018 and started preparations for UPSC. Just then his father passed away and he decided to first crack RAS examination. In 2018, he secured 688 rank in his first attempt but could not get into the merit. Now in his second attempt he topped the RAS examination- much to the satisfaction of his mother Sushma Sharma.
The second topper Priya Bajaj is daughter of Rajendra Kumar, who runs a shuttering shop in Kesarisinghpur. Bajaj said that she succeeded in her third attempt. Though she had cleared RAS 2016 exam also but could bag 274 rank making it to cooperative services.
According to RPSC, 3,28,147 candidates appeared in the pre examination. Out of which 20,114 candidates qualified for the mains examination. Then for interview 2180 candidates could qualify.
