Victim of knife attack succumbed to death in Udaipur

Victim of knife attack – Devraj – succumbed to death on Monday. Relatives of the boy refused to take the dead body. Then a consensus was reached after the agreed to give a compensation of Rs 51 and a job to relative on contract basis. The family had demanded a permanent government job, suspension of school staff and severe punishment under Sc/ST Act. The district administration has assured that proposal of a government job will be sent to the state government.

The district administration did best to save his life but he died during treatment at MB Hospital, officials said. Specialist doctors from Jaipur flew to to attend the Class – X student, who was stabbed his classmate during school hours. 

Udaipur Arvind Poswal, SP Yogesh Goyal and other senior officers of administration were present at the MB Hospital, which got crowded by people from various social organisation after the news of the death of the boy.

Following the attack Udaipur was gripped under communal tension as the two boys belonged to different communities. 

Udaipur collector Arvind Poswal and district SP Yogesh Goyal managed the crisis well and prevented this incident from taking up communal colour. 

The two officers engaged with both the communities and pacify them. They prevented rumours from spreading.

Mother of Devraj said that the attacker should not be spared. He should be given appropriate punishment for his crime. 

The state minister for home Jawahar Singh Bedham has appealed people to keep calm. 

“This is unfortunate incident. We tried our best to save the boy. We have him the best possible treatment,” he said. 

What was the incident?

According to district education officer Lokesh Bharti, the two students were friends and had never indulged in any kind of fighting before. 

“ I have not idea what was the reason of dispute. But during lunch time the victim came out running shouting in pain. The attacker had stabbed him in the thigh two to three times leaving him under immense pain and blood oozing out. The victim was immediately rushed to the MB hospital,” he said 

The attacker-boy was sent to juvenile home while his father was detained by the police. The home of the offenders was also bulldozed as the construction was allegedly done on forest land.
