Former education minister and BJP MLA from Ajmer North Vasudev Devnani has been elected as speaker of the assembly unopposed – in line with the tradition of electing speaker unopposed in Rajasthan.
The proposal for appointing Vasudev Devanani as speaker was first tabled by chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. Later former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, deputy chief minister Diya Kumari and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) president Hanuman Beniwal also proses his name for seat.

Then representative from opposition also files nomination. Thereafter speaker is elected by voting. But in Rajasthan opposition doesn't file nomination and speaker is elected unopposed.
Vasudev Devnani has filed nomination on December 20. He had filed five nominations, which were seconded by senior members of opposition.
