-Jodhpur Vande Bharat chugs into a controversy. A case of expiry date food products surfaced raising doubts over the quality of service over this coveted train.  Passengers aboard the train to Jodhpur from  Ahmedabad complained of serving stale kachori with expiry date ketchup. 

The case came out on the day when railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was on a trip to .  The railway minister, who ia native of  Pali in , had spent his initial days Jodhpur. The railways minister is going to launch more routes for Vande Bharat trains.

Vande Bharat Food manager sought apology

Passengers Rajendra Singh, Kheema Ram and  Amrit Lal Soni raised alarm when they received stale kachori with weird taste. They summoned waiter who had delivered the snacks.

After listening to their complaint, other passengers also raised complaints. Later when they saw the packet of ketchup, they found it to have surpassed the expiry date. The pouch was expired on December 22, 2022 and was being served 20 days after expiry risking lives of passengers. 

After discovering expiry date ketchup, passengers created ruckus to which the ticket checker Vijay Purohit rushed to calm the passengers. Passengers were annoyed by the kind of service provided by the train, which The railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw calls to be of world class.

He called Food manager Yudhveer Singh and Santosh, who tried to pacify the passengers. But passengers were completely annoyed by the service and they registered complaints against staff.

The food sought apology from the passengers and sought apology.

DRM says IRCTC supplies food

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Jodhpur Pankaj Kumar said that such complaint has been revived for the first time.

“The complaint is not regarding food. It's regarding packaged food. Indian  Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) takes care of this service. Its employees travel on train. Passengers can file complaint in the complaint book. All complaints then reach DRM office. We take action on the basis of complaint and investigation,” said Pankaj Kumar, DRM.
