Two officers, two strikes, no action

A new phenomenon is brewing up in Rajasthan. Senior public servants are being accused of misbehaviour and associations of that ‘victimised' public servant against the officer and go on strike. Result – public at large suffers and exchequer faces revenue.

Two such incidents have taken place. One at extreme eastern end in Dholpur district and the other at western part in Barmer district. The state government is yet to announce any action or enquiry letting the two cases to hang in balance.

What are the cases:

In Dholpur, association of transport inspectors' has gone on strike accusing , Dholpur Sumit Meharda of misconduct and detaining two transport inspectors without any valid ground. Enraged with this action, transport inspectors have gone on strike demanding action against SP Sumit Mehrada.

Meharda on the other hand says that he found the two inspectors with cash when he was on his way to conduct raids on trucks transporting illegal bajri from Dholpur to Uttar Pradesh border. After enquiry the two inspectors were released.

In the other incident, of Sedwa in Barmer, was caught on camera misbehaving with a doctor on duty. The SDM Badri Narayan Bishnoi was found  used threatening-language while pressing doctor to attend a patient on his visit to a local

Doctor claimed that he had already attended the patient and given her primary treatment before attending hordes of patients waiting in the outdoor. Even then Bishnoi threatened doctor of imprisonment and tried to misuse his authority as SDM.

The doctor on duty since then has been receiving supply from several doctors associations and medical forums, which are threatening to go on indefinite strike if action is not taken against the SDM.

The SDM, a promotee from tehsildar service was earlier under suspension over corruption charges. He had tendered apology through a video message but doctors associations are demanding and suspension of Bishnoi.

What government is doing?

So far there is no firm action visible from the state government.  Associations are sending representation meeting the power that be, but there has been no action so far in both the cases.
