The BJP has appointed tribal CM in Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh. This rules out appointment of any other tribal leader as CM in Madhya Pradesh or Rajasthan. But this has increased the likelihood of a woman CM in Rajasthan as Madhya Pradesh doesn't have any prominent woman face in BJP.
In Chhattisgarh, tribal face Sai got the better off woman face in contention Renuka Singh. Had she been the CM, Rajasthan would have definitely a CM other than woman.
Now looking at woman MLAs, there are nine MLAs from BJP – Vasundhara Raje, Diya Kumari, Sidhi Kumari, Anita Bhadel, Shobha Chouhan, Manju Baghmar, Nauksham, Kalpana Devi and Deepti Kiran Maheshwari.
“Of these chances of Vasundhara Raje and Diya Kumari are high. However there are unlikely candidates like Sidhi Kumari and Anita Bhadel also. But Raje still rules at the top,” said a senior BJP leader.
MLAs throngs Raje's residence
Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje has returned from Delhi meeting party president J P Nadda and home minister Amit Shah. A lege of number of MLAs thronged to her place to meet her. As many as 18 MLAs and ex-MLAs including Ajay Singh Kilak, Babu Singh Rathore, Pushpendra Singh Ranawat, Ashok Parnami, Degi Singh Bhati, Arjun Lal Garg, Srichand Kriplani and Kailash Verma among others reached her bungalow to meet her.
This is for the second time in since election results that MLAs have come to meet Raje in large numbers.
“It's significant ahead of legislative party meeting where CN will be announced. People are viewing it as the show of strength. Raje may get benefit. It may go against also. Let's see what's there in mind of Modi-Shah,” said a senior MLA who refrained from visiting Raje.
