The toll plaza at Saipau enroute Dholpur took its toll on IAS P Ramesh, who is secretary incharge of Dholpur district.
P Ramesh, a 2005 batch IAS officer, serving as secretary Devasthan, was on his way to Dholpur. At Saipau toll plaza, his car was stopped by the staff of toll plaza. Ramesh was made to wait unnecessarily at the toll plaza. It irked Ramesh, who called up Dholpur collector Sreenidhi BT and informed him about the misconduct of toll plaza staff.
Sreenidhi immediately sent acting SDM Virendra Gupta and SHO Gambheer Singh who then escorted his vehicle from the toll plaza.
The police later arrested five people from the staff of toll plaza for the misconduct.
A native of Andhra Pradesh, P Ramesh had been on deputation to Andhra Pradesh government from 2011 to 2015, where he served as joint managing director of AP Transcom Limited. In October 2020, Ramesh reportedly applied for voluntary retirement also after he was enraged over his transfer from the post of chairman and managing director Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited.
Toll plaza staff misbehaves with passengers
There have been many cases where toll plaza staff misbehave and some times beat up passengers passing through the toll plaza.
“If an IAS officer has to go through this ordeal, you can imagine how toll plaza staff behaves with normal people. Government should take strict action against the contractor and his staff,” said Ravindra Parihar, a resident of Saipau.
