In what could be termed as callousness of forest department, a tiger attacked a tourist near trinetra Ganesh mandir at Naulakha gate of Ranthambhore fort. The tourist was immediately taken to hospital with bruises on his hand.
According to onlookers, tourists informed forest department at 4 pm about the presence of tiger near temple.
“Officials of forest department arrived after one and half hours. This is sheer callousness and carelessness specially when a tiger had killed a man a few days back near park,” said an onlooker.
On November 2, a tiger had attacked a goat rearer in Uliayana village adjoining the Ranthambhore National Park. The tiger too is suspected to have been killed by villagers after the attack. The dead body of Tiger was found on the same spot where the big cat had attacked the villager.
Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve DFO Ramanand Bhakar said that the the tiger which attacked the tourist has been identified as the cub of tigress Arrowhead.
“There are little skirmishes on the body of tourist. There is nothing much to worry about,” he said.
700 tourists were rescued from the fort
There were 700 tourists at the fort when the tigress Arrowhead appeared at the fort along with her three cubs. All the three big cats sat there for one and half hours leaving tourists in fear and desperation. It took one and half hours for forest department officials to reach there and rescue tourists with the help of locals.
