For last two months, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has been in full swing in Rajasthan. They have been conducting investigations in at least three cases simultaneously. The man behind ED's action is BJP Rajya Sabha member Kirodi Lal Meena.
The 72 year old firebrand leader has been staging press conferences and agitations against high level corruption in these three cases – RPSC Paper Leak, DoIT corruption and Jal Jeevan Mission.
Kirodi Lal Meena, popularly known as Baba, took up these cases to attack Congress government and later ED made entry and started investigation.
RPSC Paper Leak
Baba has been voicing high level corruption in teachers recruitment test (REET) for more than than two years. He staged dharna, did gherao and finally registered complaint with ED over irregularities and corruption taken place in paper leak. It was Baba'a input and proofs which paved way for ED to get into investigating this case in which RPSC member Babulal Katara has been arrested. ED has just started investigation and people are expecting more skeletons to come out of the closet.
DoIT corruption case
Again Baba has been fighting and bringing facts out in the alleged high level corruption in Department of information and Technology & Communication, which provides IT infrastructure to the state government. Meena has alleged Rs 3,000 crore scam in purchase of IT peripherals over last four years. He has been demanding ED or CBI probe into these purchases.
Meena has alleged that the state government in last four years has purchased CCTV, video walls, indoor and outdoor screens through tenders, which were rigged and officials have engulfed crores of rupees in these deals.
He also alleged that the IT department purchased POS machines worth crores from a company which has been black listed by National Fertilizers Limited, the largest government owned urea-Fertilizer producer.
Meena's allegations seems to come on ground after ED action. The central agency has recovered gold and incriminating digital and documentary evidences, which can lead to further investigation and expose.
Jal Jeevan Mission
Baba did it again. The one-man opposition Kirori Lal Meena exposed this scam before public. He alleged corruption of Rs 20,000 crore in this scheme, which is aimed at providing tapped drinking water to every household.
He was the first one to bring out to the notice that two companies Ganapati Tubewell and Shree Shyam Tubewell have been involved in scam worth thousands of crores. He has alleged that Ganapati Tubewell has won tenders worth Rs 900 crores through fake documents.
The ACB registered case of corruption in Jal Jeevan Mission and made some arrests. Now ED has also swung into action on the basis of ACB FIR and recovered cash and gold from officials and owners of company. ED is likely to make more arrests in this case.
Kirodi Lal Meena had told The BuckStopper that he had dedicated his life to fight for the public cause.
“Don't look at me age. Look at my intent, my passion. People are my strength and I will continue to fight for their right till the time I am here. Corruption steals right of common people. I will fight for it,” he had said.
Who is Kirodi Lal Meena ?
Kirori Lal Meena is a ‘no-nonsense' politician. He is Rajya Sabha member from BJP and had been 5 times MLA and two times member of parliament from Lok Sabha.
A medico by education, Meena has been into politics for more than 50 years including student politics.
He came to limelight in 1988 when he suffered grave head injury during demonstration for reopening of a cement factory in Sawai Madhopur. Factory could not open but it did open doors for him to serious politics. Since then Meena has been known as on-ground politician connected with roots.
He never mind hitting road for issues related to public. It's his relentless efforts that ED is taking action in high level corruption happening in Rajasthan.
