Tests to restart in Kota coaching, albeit with caution, collector Bunkar rolls out guidelines

After a month of banning tests following scores of ' suicides in Kota, O P Bunkar has lifted restrictions on conducting tests in coaching institutes. However, institutes will have to follow for conducting tests.

With close to 30 cases in this year, the government is trudging cautiously and controlling the activities of coaching institutes in the city. The government had constituted a 15-member committee headed by technical education Bhawani Singh Detha, who has come up with guidelines and directions to curb rising suicide cases in Kota.
The BuckStopper was the first to report on the new guidelines which will govern the functioning of coaching institutes in Kota.

As per the news guidelines regarding tests, coaching institutes will not be able to force students to appear for the assessment test. There will be complete ban on ranking system in these tests.

Earlier, coaching institutes used to conduct test every week and would give ranking to the students.

Now institutes can conduct tests in 21 days if the classes are still continuing and every week in case the course is completed.

After every test, institutes will have to grant holiday the next day and institutes should follow it mandatorily.

Guidelines to rekindle hopes:

  • Tests should be conducted in 21 days if the classes are continuing.
  • Tests should be held on weekly basis in case the course has been completed.
  • Test should not be forced on students. Only those students who want to appear for the test should take this. Others may skip if they don't want to appear.
  • There should be a counselling session after every test. Those students who are performing below average should be given special session. Result of the tests should be out in three days time.
  • Result of the tests should not be made public. It should be sent personally to students and their parents. The ranking system in the tests will be completely banned.
