‘Super cop' of Rajasthan Dinesh MN has been empanelled for appointment as additional director general (ADG) or ADG equivalent in central forces.
This gives him option to go on deputation and render his services at centre. Apart from Dinesh, 15 other IPS officers have also been empanelled for ADG rank posts at centre.
A 1995 batch IPS officer of a Rajasthan cadre, Dinesh is serving as ADG Crime Branch. During his 30 years of career, Dinesh had never been on deputation. In 2022, he was empanelled for the post of Inspector General (IG) or equivalent at centre. Though he preferred to stay and served in home cadre only.
Dinesh had served on several important positions including IG ACB, ADG ACB, IG SOG, SP Udaipur, Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli and Jhunjhunu. He is credited to have cleansed the Karauli district from dacoits and robbers during his stint as Karauli SP.
Came back stronger
Dinesh had his share of triumphs and perils. While he is considered as Singham of Rajasthan, he had to stay in jail for seven years in the alleged encounter cases of Sohrabuddin and Tulsiram Prajapati. Later, Dinesh MN was pronounced innocent in the court and he got his glory back.
After coming out of jail, he again joined the police force and rose to fame soon after arresting a senior IAS officer on corruption charges. He also earned name in the gunning down of dreaded gangster Anand Pal Singh.
