Shalini Singh becomes first woman chief of Delhi Crime Branch

Shalini Singh has become the first woman chief of Delhi Police Crime Branch ahead of 75th Republic Day. In a major reshuffle Delhi police transferred 27 officers.Singh, a 1996 batch IPS from AGMUT cadre was serving as special of Economic Offence Wing (EOW).

Who is Shalini Singh

 A bold and intelligent officer, Shalini Singh hit the headlines last year when she was investigating an accident case. During new year celebration car in which five people were travelling, dragged a 20 years old girl riding on scooty for 12 kms. The accident was caught on CCTV camera and it had stunned the entire . Shalini Singh had investigated the case. Amit Shah had called Shalini Singh with report of this case. 

In her career spanning 27 years, Shalini Singh has cracked many blind murders also while helping government maintain law and order during communal riots and Covid times. In 2004, she solved a murder case in which a retired Lt General of army and his wife was murdered at their home. Singh and her team investigated the case and nabbed the killer from Nepal border. 

Shalini Singh's husband Anil Shukla is also a 1996 batch IPS from AGMUT cadre. Currently, he is serving as DG police Mizoram. He has been credited to have led the investigation of Pulwama terrorist attack when he was serving in National Investigation Agency (NIA). In 2022, in a rare first, the police-couple received special service medal together on Republic Day from the President of India for exemplary services in force.
