Dr Shalini Rajneesh, a 1989-batch IAS officer, who is working as  Additional to Government-cum- Commissioner, has been as Chief Secretary (CS) replacing her husband  Dr. Rajneesh Goel, who is 1986 batch IAS officer. 

Shalini will be the third bureaucrat in Karnataka's history to succeed her husband as Chief Secretary. 

Malati Das, a 1970 batch IAS,  who  served as Chief Secretary from October 2 to December 30, 2006, had  succeeded her husband BK Das, who held the position from March 1 to September 30, 2006. 

Similarly BK Bhattacharya and Teresa Bhattacharya both form 1965 batch form Karnataka cadre were the first couple to serve as Chief Secretary  of Karnataka. Bhattacharya held the position in 2000, and Teresa served from July 2, 2001 to March 30, 2002. 

Who is Dr Shalini Rajneesh?

Dr. Shalini Rajneesh joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the year 1989 as Women Topper at the age of 22 years. She received Gold Medal in B.A. and M.A. Psychology from Panjab University. She completed Ph.D. in from Mangalore University (2000) and MBA from Latrobe University, (2001). 

Considering her achievements and contributions to women empowerment, public administration and also her passion for implementing the Government schemes effectively for the welfare of women, the Karnataka State Women's University honored her with Doctorate of Literature in 2013.

She has written 13 books, 8 in English and 5 in Kannada, covering subjects like Management, Personality Development, Women Empowerment, IAS Coaching, Smart City, creating awareness in people regarding COVID-19, Creating good future for youth etc.

She regularly writes article and gives lectures/interviews in T.V., Radio, National and International forums, etc. to connect to people at large

Shalini Rajneesh has worked in many capacities in Government of India in the Ministries of Finance, Civil Aviation, Shipping, Agriculture and Road Transport. In the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.
