An SDM was suspended in Madhya Pradesh by chief minister Mohan Yadav. The SDM Amit Singh was posted at Bandhavgarh in district Umaria.
Singh has been accused of ordering and overseeing assault of two youngsters whose crime was overtaking the vehicle in which SDM was travelling.
The chief minsiter taking his X account wrote:
“The assault of two youngsters by SDM Bandhavgarh is unfortunate. It's has been instructed to suspend the SDM.
In Madhya Pradesh there is government of good governance. Such inhuman act can't be tolerated.”
According to reports, a nine-second video of the incident – in which two vehicles, a Mahindra Scorpio with SDM sticker on the rear window is seen parked behind a Maruti Suzuki XL6 – has been widely circulate online. The video shows a man being hit on his leg, at least twice, by another, with three others looking on.
The police registered a case after SDM Amit Singh and Tehsildar Vinod Kumar, along with their associates, were accused of assaulting two men mercilessly after they overtook the official's vehicle.
Why SDM was suspended?
According to victims identified as Shivam Yadav and Prakash Dahiya, they were travelling from Khairi to Bharoula when they saw Mahindra Scorpio on road with sticker of SDM on it. When Shivam Yadav did not give way to the SDM's car, tehsildar's vehicle approached from the opposite direction and blocked their way.
After getting enraged SDM Amit Singh and Tehsildar Vinod Kumar, along with their drivers, reportedly pulled the men out of their vehicle and initiated a brutal assault with sticks, leaving them badly injured.
The police registered a case against the officer and took injured to the hospital. SDM Amit Singh has denied all charges against him and said that he was trying to help the youngsters and was mediating.
When the incident came in the knowledge of district collector Umaria – Buddhesh Kumar Vaidya – he immediately removed Amit Singh from the post of SDM till the investigation.
