Sasur from Congress, damaad from BJP will attend assembly together

In a rare instance, a pair of Sasur and damaad won assembly elections in Rajasthan. Both are from opposite parties. from Phulera Vidhyadhar Singh Choudhary won the defeating 's Nirmal Kumawat. His son-in-law Shailesh Singh, who is the BJP candidate from Deegh-Kumher won the election defeating Congress' Vishvendra Singh, member of erstwhile royal family of Bharatpur.

Now both father-in-law and son-in-law will attend the assembly together. While son-in-law Shailesh Singh will sit on ruling party side, Vidhyadhar Singh Choudhary will be on the opposition side.

Shailesh Singh is son of former BJP later Dr Digambar Singh, who was an arch rival of Vishvendra Singh. In 2018, Shailesh Singh was given ticket after the death of Dr. Digamabar Singh from Deegh-Kumher. However, Vishvendra Singh had won the seat that time.

In few other contests where relations were at stake, on Nagaur seat uncle Harendra Mirdha of Congress defeated neice Jyoti Mirdha, who was contesting on BJP ticket after quitting Congress few days ahead of elections.

On Dantanramgarh seat, husband Virendra Singh from Congress defeated estranged wife Rita Singh, who contested on JJP ticket. Rita Singh finished third after BJP's Gajanand Kumawat.

In another duel, Shobha Rani Kushwaha who left BJP to join Congress after cross voting during Rajya Sabha elections, defeated her brother-in-law Shivcharan Kushwaha from BJP.
