RREC MD Om Kasera invites solar companies to invest in Rajasthan

As a run up to Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited () held a with solar and wind energy developers. The meeting was chaired by RREC managing director Om Kasera who gave personal hearing to senior representatives of renewable energy companies.

Kasera invited companies to participate in the investment summit and pledge investment in renewable energy sector. 

“We have an installed capacity of 30GW and by 2020 we envisage to ramp up the capacity to 125 GW. For that we need your active participation and enhanced investment in the sector,” Kasera said. 

He discussed problems and issues being faced by solar and wind energy developers who already have their projects running in the state.

“We are here to resolve your issues. A new integrated policy on renewable energy is on the anvil which will address many existing challenges. Even then if problems are there we will resolve them individually,” he said.

The RREC is working closely with revenue and finance department to remove a big bottleneck related to conversion of land belong to SC/ST farmers.

“At present we have removed the condition of conversion for land belonging to general and category farmers. Developers can  set their facility on agriculture land. But for land belong to SC/ST,  there is provision to convert it before using it for development solar plant. We are working closely to remove this condition. Revenue department has cleared the file. After deliberation finance department will send it to cabinet for approval,” he said. 

Kasera said that the energy department is organising pre summit of Rising Rajasthan on November 20, 2024 where renewable energy companies will sign MoUs for investment in Rajasthan.

“We are inviting all companies to come and work in Rajasthan, which is blessed with elongated solar exposure. For companies which want to do business in solar, Rajasthan is the address,” he said.
