RK Singh takes over as defence secretary, AK Meena as DWS secretary

Rajesh Kumar Singh, a 1989 batch cadre IAS officer, has taken over as defence from Aramane Giridhar, who retired ion October 31.  

Before this RK Singh worked as Secretary, DPIIT under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and Secretary, Department of AnimalHusbandry and Dairying. 

Just a month ahead of retirement RK Singh takes over as the new Defence Secretary for a fixed tenure ending 31.11.2026.

In another significant development, Ashok Kaluram Meena has taken over as secretary Drinking & Sanitation (DWS) from Vini Mahajan who retired as secretary DWS on October 31, 2024. 

Prior to this Meena worked as Chairman of the Corporation of India (FCI).

As Secretary, DWS Meena may have a tenure till September 2029.
