Independent director in the board of Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and close confidante of Ashok Gehlot has given 48 hours ultimatum to Congress for changing candidature of Manvendra Singh from Siwana. Singh is the son of former BJP leader and union minister Jaswant Singh. Manavendra had been member of parliament from Barmer and MLa from Sheo.
Parihar said that the public of Siwana will not accept a helicopter candidate in Siwana.
“I don't know why party has decided to field Singh from here. He had been active in Jaisalmer and wanted to contest from there. I don't know when the party has given him the ticket from where he has no base,” questioned Parihar.
Parihar had been chairman of Rajasthan Small Scale Industries Corporation (RAJSICO) with status of minister of state.
“I had been minister and now also I am no less than a minister. Party should reconsider the ticket within 48 hours,” he said.
He said that the voters of Siwana will not accept any outsider this time. Congress has lost four elections due to wrong choice of candidate.
“Giving ticket is in the hands of high command. But votes are in our hands,” he said.
In 2018 elections, Congress lost to BJP by a small margin due to rebel candidate Balaram Choudhary. Congress had given ticket to Pankaj Pratap Singh against the wishes of local workers.
The rebel Balaram Choudhary contested and stood second.
“Party should respect the sentiments of local workers otherwise history will repeat,” Parihar cautioned.
