The electricity regulator in Rajasthan Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has eased the process of getting electricity connection in Rajasthan. It has done away with the necessity to submit stamp paper along with application for electricity connection.
Hearing a petition filed by Jaipur Vidyut Viran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) on behalf of all the three discoms, RREC headed by former IAS B N Sharma exempted submitting of value stamp paper in order to get electricity connection.
What Petitioner submitted
The petitioners submitted that with the development of technological intervention, most of the processes related connection, applications have become online. During such times, the requirement of mandatory submission of stamp paper becomes a tedious exercise for the consumers where they have to face issues like availability of suitable value stamp papers. Not all consumers are comfortable with procuring stamp papers and have to visit court oblique other government premises for procuring such stamp papers. This leads to unnecessary delay filing of application and also requires the consumer to physically visit the premises of this to submit the same.
Petitioner further submitted that the exemption shall prove a major boost to the government of India's vision of ease of doing business.
