Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, who also heads the home department, perhaps got a new formula to bulldoze crime and criminals out of the state.
In less than a month, his government has used bulldozer thrice to demolish illegal constructions of the accused. At first, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), city's urban development agency, demolished illegal construction of Bhupendra Saran and Suresh Dhaka after they were named in the REET paper leak case. JDA enforcement officers used bulldozer to destroy unapproved buildings of coaching Institute and their residences.
Now the bulldozer has been trained at properties of Additional Superintendent of Police Divya Mittal, who was caught in a Rs 2 crore bribery case.
In a major crackdown, the government demolished luxury resort of Divya Mittal. She was recently arrested on bribery charges of Rs 2-crore which she had allegedly demanded from a medicine manufacturer. The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) demolished the construction through bull dozer at her resort in Udaipur.
UIT officials said that the tainted police officer had bought agricultural land in Chikalwaas village, 25 kms from Udaipur for developing a farm house. But she constructed a resort on the land for commercial use.
“We had sent a notice regarding the illegal use of agriculture land. Since we didn't get any reply, the demolition work has started,” the official said. Before starting the demolition act, UIT officials shifted guest staying in the resort to another hotel
No commercial conversion was done
Additional SP Divya Mittal had developed the resort without converting the land use to commercial. Taking cognisance of this, UIT demolished the illegal construction.
According to UIT tehsildar Vimalendra Singh, the UIT has given permission to Divya and her accomplice Sumit for developing farm house on the land. Then half of the land was under agriculture use. However, the duo developed resort violating the norms.
“They did follow process to convert the land to commercial before starting the resort,” he said.
The Case
Mittal was arrested on January 16 by the ACB on charges of demanding bribe of Rs 2 crore while investigating banned medicine cases.
An owner of a company in UP had lodged a complaint with ACB stating that while probing the cases of banned medicines seized in Ajmer, Mittal demanded Rs 2 crore for not including the firm's name in the list of accused. She was later arrested from her Ajmer home.
Who is Divya Mittal
Divya Mittal is a 2010 batch Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) officer. She was posted in Special Operation Group, which was investigating the sale of banned medicine case. She through her accomplice Sumit, a suspended constable, threatened the medicine manufacturer to give away a bribe of Rs 2 crore for removing his name from the case.
Mittal is said to have an eye for luxury life. Apart from this resort near Udaipur, she is said to have many properties in name of her relatives. She allegedly invests heavily in properties.
Disturbed personal life
Like professional life, her personal life is also said to be disturbed. She has taken divorce from his husband Prateek, who is a CA. She met Prateek over social media in 2014. They got married in a temple and started living together. They lived in Bharatpur, Udaipur and Mathura before calling it off in 2015 when they both mutually got separated after divorce.
