RAS Taru Surana passes away due to Dengue

Tara Surana, a 2011 batch RAS officer passed away after battling with Dengue for more than a month. She was just 42.

Taru Surana, a 2011 batch Rajasthan Administrative Service () officer, who was serving as DIG Stamps Udaipur, passed away due to Dengue. She was 42. 

Taru Surana was first admitted in Geetanjali Hospital in on September 13 after she fell ill. The investigations revealed that she was suffering from Dengue. Though platelets in her blood count didn't drop as in the case of Dengue, fever continued unabated leaving everyone in the family perplexed.

When there was no sign of improvement, Taru Surana was airlifted to Chennai and was admitted in a private hospital. The treatment continued for 17 days but there was no improvement. At last she passed away in the morning hours of Saturday. 

According to doctors, she was suffering from rare Dengue as platelets didn't go down despite continuous high fever. 

Dr Sanjay , head of cardiac surgery in Geetanjali Hospital said that the condition of Taru Surana was critical when she was admitted in Geetanjali Hospital. 

“Dengue had affected her heart as well. She was given all kind of treatment and one of her family members who is doctor in US continuously stayed with her in the ICU. Even team of doctors from Chennai stayed with her at Geetanjali Hospital airlifted her after her condition become little stable,” he said. 

Who is Taru Surana?

A native of Udaipur, Taru Surana was a doctorate in Sociology and had qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) before joining RAS in 2011. During her 13 years long service, she served completely in Udaipur division at various posts including assistant collector Rajsamand, Amet (Rajsamand), SDM Garhi (Banswara), SDM Railmagri (Rajsamand), deputy director and child development, Udaipur, land acquisition officer UIT, Udaipur, senior manager at RSMML among others.
