RAS officers don’t get good houses, vehicles and offices, says RAS Association president Kharadi

RAS Association demanded good houses, vehicles and proper offices for its officers from the chief minister at the oath ceremony function

Association, an association of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers, demanded proper offices, vehicles and good houses from for its members.

The newly elected president of RAS Association Mahaveer Kharadi put up this demand before the minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who administered oath of office to Kharadi.

Kharadi said that RAS officers are ears, eyes and nose of the administration.

“As the sub division magistrate (), RAS officers act as the bridge between public and administration. However, resources for officers are not in sync with the number of sub divisions, which are increasing by day. RAS officers then are deprived of good houses, offices and vehicles due to paucity of resources,” he said.

Kharadi also pointed out the obstacles in the way of promotion of RAS officers.

“A lot of riders are there in the promotion of RAS officers. Due to boundation of time period, officers don't get elevated even when the posts are vacant,” he complained.

Kharadi also pointed out that there is ban on filing of ACR of officers during this time.

“There are many important cadre posts of RAS in departments like transport, and others, which are getting abolished depriving RAS officers from good postings,” he said.

Past presidents of RAS Association R C Jain, Pawan Arora, Gyana Ram, Shaheen Ali and Gaurav Bajad were also present at the ceremony.

R C Jain, who was twice elected the president unopposed, said that the building of RAS Association was constructed during his tenure. He started with a corpus of Rs 10 lakh and later collected Rs 70 lakh with support of fellow officers to construct the building.

“RAS Association will succeed in its mission and aim only when officers lend their support. During my tenure, my biggest strength was my fellows officers. At any given time, at least 100 officers would be ready to voice support for me,” he said.

The building of RAS Assosiation was later reconstructed,  renovated and converted into the premier RAS Club during the tenure of Pawan Arora, who has quit the service after getting promoted to IAS. He is now heading a media house which runs a popular news channel, English newspaper and an OTT platform.
