Aqeel Ahmed Khan, a 2017 batch RAS officer has been terminated on account of pursuing some other profession during the long term absence from state service.
Aqeel Ahmed is brother of Jameel Ahmed Khan, who is Rajasthan president of Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM party. He had contested election on the party ticket from Jaipur's Hawa Mahal seat but he lost the elections in 2023.
Why Ahmed has been terminated?
Khan, promoted from tehsildar service had joined the government job in 2007. He applied for voluntary retirement in June 2022 citing family reasons. And then went on leave without intimating to the department.
“Khan had applied for 58 days leave for going on a foreign trip from 19.5.2022 to 15.7.2022. The leave was approved. But Khan came back on 5.6.2022 and applied for VRS on 8.6.2022. Since he was back from foreign trip, his remaining leave-days were cancelled. Though he remained absent during the entire leave period,” said a senior officer.
The VRS of Khan could not be accepted as his leave-days were not counted in the service and he fell short of 15 years of service mandatory for qualifying for VRS.
The state government also noticed that Khan did not join Banswara as deputy director, women and child development after he was transferred from Waqf Board. He even ignored notices and reminders sent to him for joining.
Aqeel in his letter to the department stated that he had entered into a business and is also into making national and international policies after resigning from the service on 5.6.2022.
“Since he is not interested in continuing with the service. He himself stated that he is engaged in some other work. He had been willful absent since his resignation on 5.6.2022, his services shall be deemed terminated,” said a senior official.
