Randhir Jaiswal takes charge as spokesperson of MEA

Randhir Jaiswal has been given a crucial role of MEA spokesperson at a time when India has assumed an important position at global level

Randhir Jaiswal, a 1998-batch IFS officer has become the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs. He took charge of Arindam Bagchi, who is a 1995 batch IFS.

Arindam Bagchi had been serving as spokesperson since March 2021 and had handled several critical issues like the eastern border row, India's Covid response, New Delhi's G20 presidency and multiple rescue operations that were necessitated by development overseas.

Randhir Jaiswal takes charge of spokesperson of MEA

Arindam Bagchi is India's next permanent representative to the United Nations and related bodies in Geneva.

Bagchi would be succeeding Indra Mani Pandey, the incumbent envoy to the UN in Geneva. He was given the key charge in July 2020 and is now set to return to New Delhi after a three-year stint.

The newly appointed MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was the Consul General for India in New York before this posting. Jaiswal has also served in the Ministry as deputy secretary and used to look after relations with the and as joint secretary.

Bidding Farewell to Randhir Jaiswal, the Consul General of India in New York in a post on X had expressed appreciation for his “exemplary leadership and significant achievements.”
