In a major success in murder case of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, president of Shri Raashtriya Karni Sena, police have arrested the two shooters -Nitin Fauji and Rohit Rathore – who shot Gogamedi dead at his home.
Police had promised to arrest the killers within 72 hours in an agreement letter signed with Gogamedi's wife to call off the agitation on December 6. And the police fulfilled it.
The two shooters were planning to flee to Nepal. But Rajasthan police with the help of Delhi police crime branch nabbed the two from Chandigarh. Arms were also received from them. They will be brought to Jaipur in afternoon and will be presented before the court.
They were accompanied by one more associate, Udham Singh, who was also caught, officials said.
According to additional director general (crime) Dinesh MN who was called from his leave in between to solve this case, the two shooters had left the murder spot with one of their accomplices Ramveer, who took them Bagru toll on his bike. From there they boarded a bus to Deedwana and then hired a taxi to reach Sujangarh.
Dinesh MN said that the two shooters then boarded a bus to Delhi but alighted at Dharuheda in between. The police had been regularly following them and when police searched for their location, they found it in Hisar.
A team was immediately sent to Hisar but till then they fled to Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. From Mandi, Nitin Fauji and Rohit came to Chandigarh to how of a person, who was from Nitin's village in Mahendragarh, Haryana.
On Saturday afternoon, police had confirmation of their location. ADG crime of Delhi Ravindra Singh contacted Rajasthan police and then Jaipur police commissioner Biju George Joseph sent a team of 7 officers to nab them.
Police were suspecting that the shooters were having arms. So they decided to crack down on them during mid night to avoid any further damage.
How Police reached shooters?
The breakthrough in the case came when Police arrested Ramvir from Jaipur. Ramvir is a close friend of Nitin. He took both the shooters on his bike and dropped them at Bagru till after the killing.
Ramvir is an educated person having master's degree in Mathematics. He shared details about the probable hideouts of Nitin. Working on those clues, Police nabbed the culprits.
Police said the shooters were in constant touch with Rohit Godara's close aide Virendra Charan after killing Gogamedi – who had also been named in several criminal cases.
The shooters' recent location was traced through their mobile phones, as they had been making calls to Virendra Charan while they were on the run.
