The government has disbursed a total of Rs 8.30 crore in prize money to 11,000 who clinched gold, silver, and bronze medals in the recently concluded Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2. 

The Bhagwant Mann personally announced and transferred the funds directly into the bank accounts of the deserving athletes, marking a significant step in recognising their outstanding sporting achievements.

The announcement came alongside the official declaration of the successful conclusion of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season-2, where athletes from various age categories showcased their prowess in sports like rugby, cycling, equestrianism, wushu, and volleyball shooting. The competition featured 35 events across age groups, ranging from 8 to 65 years, with each gold medalist receiving Rs10,000, silver medalists Rs 7,000, and bronze medalists Rs 5,000.

Reflecting on the significance of these sporting events, chief minsiter Mann emphasised that the games provided a platform for athletes to exhibit their skills and contribute to identifying strengths and weaknesses. He expressed hope that such initiatives would aid the state government in recognizing the potential of athletes and preparing them for national and competitions in the future.

The government's commitment to popularising sports in Punjab underscores its recognition of the role sports play in the progress of the state and the well-being of its residents.
