Senior BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf has been appointed as pro-tem speaker of Rajasthan assembly. Governor Kalraj Mishra will administer oath of secrecy to Saraf.
For his support, a panel of three senior MLAs – Dayaram Parmar, Pratap Singh Singhvi and Dr Kirodi Lal Meena – has been formed.
Pro-tem speaker is a temporary speaker appointed for a limited time period to conduct proceedings in state legislatures. A pro-tem speaker is ordinarily elected for the first sitting of a new legislative assembly where the Speaker is yet to be elected.
This is an indication that the government will soon start the proceeding of state assembly. Senior MLA from Ajmer North Vasudev Devnani has been appointed as speaker-designate. He will start functioning after taking oath of secrecy.
The pro-tem speaker Kalicharan Saraf is an eight time MLA from Malviya Nagar and has been winning continuously from his constituency since 2003 elections.
