A day after SHO of Arnod police station of Pratapgarh district was caught accepting bribe of Rs 8 lakh by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), the state government put SP Pratapgarh Laxman Das under Awaiting Posting Order (APO).
Additional SP of Pratapgarh Banwari Lal Meena has given charge of SP til further orders.
It is alleged that the complainant had first complained to SP Pratapgarh about the SHO Arnod But SP didn't act upon that.
According to ACB, the SHO Surendra Solanki had threatened to frame the complainant under NDPS Act. He had demanded Rs 8 lakh from the complainant. A middleman Kanti Lal Prajapat alias Guddu was the conduit for handing over the bribe to the SHO.
The ACB intercepted the calls and caught the SHO and Kanti Lal taking the bribe red handed.
Laxman Das is a 2014 batch IPS officer, promoted from state police service. This was his fourth posting in IPS. In his earlier postings, he had served as SP CID (Crime Branch), DCP (traffic) in Jaipur and as SP Cyber Crime, Jaipur.
