Tonk MLA Sachin Pilot, on Tuesday, filed nomination with great fanfare. Thousands of supporters along with sitting Congress MLAs Raghu Sharma, Khiladi Lal Bairwa, Prashant Bairwa and Rakesh Pareek accompanied Pilot while he filed his candidature for the second time from Tonk. In last elections, Pilot defeated Yunus Khan – the only Muslim candidate from BJP – who was PWD and transport minister in Raje government.
Pilot said that Congress is going to repeat the government.
“There is no difference in the party. I have been told to forgive every one and go forward. I am doing exactly that,” he said.
He said that there is no camp in the party and everyone is fighting together for the victory.
“We are committed to bring back the government and break the decade old tradition of alternate governments,” he said.
BJP trying to grill Sachin
The BJP is not letting life easy for Sachin Pilot. The party has fielded Vijay Bainsla from neighbouring Deoli-Uniyara. Bainsla is son of spearhead of Gurjar agitation Kirori Singh Bainsla. The BJP has also made Ramesh Bidhuri, a Gurjar leader and MP from Delhi, incharge of Tonk to strangulate Sachin Pilot.
However, to contain Pilot will not be easy for BJP. The constituency has sizeable number of Muslim, Gurjar, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and Brahmin voters.
“While Gurjars and Muslims are likely to support Pilot in large numbers, scheduled tribe, Brahmin and other voters will be divided. The outcome will depend on BJP candidate,” said Rakesh Sharma, a political analyst.
