Indore's Employment Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) commissioner Mukesh Rawat has been arrested from the Mumbai airport in connection with the murder of a village sarpanch in Gwalior district. He was trying to flee from the country but alter police nabbed him.
The police had announced reward of Rs 10,000 for Mukesh Rawat's whereabouts.
Mukesh Rawat was wanted in connection with murder of Vikram Rawat, sarpanch of Banheri village, who was shot dead in Gwalior's Padav area on October 9.
Police had earlier arrested 11 persons in the case, but Rawat was absconding since the killing.
Rawat was booked for murder and criminal conspiracy and he is also facing another case of alleged abetment of suicide, the official added.

Murder of Sarpanch
According to police, six people attacked sarpanch Vikrma Singh Rawat when he was going to meet an advocate and pumped in 11 bullets including seven on his head. Vikram succumbed to his injury. Police said that old family enemity is reason behind the murder.
The CCTV footage showed that two people came on a motorcycle and started firing when Vikram was taking out documents from backseat of his car. Just then three more people came firing at Vikram and all five left the spot within 63 seconds.
Police have identified four out of six people said to be involved i the murder. The accused includes PF commissioner Mukesh Rawat, Pushpendra Rawat. Bunti Rawat and Atendra Rawat.
