A month ago, Rajasthan chief secretary Sudhansh Pant had said that departmental promotion committee (DPC) should be held timely to fix seniority and award promotions to secretarial staff the way IAS officers get timebound promotions without any delay.
On January 1, 2025, as many as 1,258 officers and staff either got promoted or elevated as per seniority. Department of personnel (DoP) led by its secretary KK Pathak did exceptional job in fixing seniority in time.
This is the first time that officials other than All India Services (IAS, IPS, IFS) got timebound promotions and seniority in time.
“This is a healthy practice. Releasing seniority list in time will ensure timely promotion and elevation. This will help in keeping up the motivation of secretariat staff – key factor in ensuring good governance,” said a senior IAS officer.
