P Narhari IAS falls victim of cyber crime, fake chat gets viral

P Narhari, secretary and commissioner MSME Madhya Pradesh has fallen victim of cyber crime. An obscene fake WhatsApp chat in his name is viral

A senior officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre P Narhari has become victim of cyber crime. 

An obscene chat in his name with a subordinate lady officer is being viral on social media for last two days. 

P Narhari, is a 2001 batch IAS officer, who is currently serving as and commissioner micro, small and medium enterprises. 

Incidentally, P Narhari is among few IAS officers in the country who used social media platforms like twitter, facebook and WhatsApp to interact with public for solving their problems. 

The chat is a WhatsApp chat with name and photo of P Narhari saved in the profile. 

After coming to the notice P Narhari immediately lodged a complaint with  commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra that the viral chat is fake and intended at his character assassination and is a conspiracy against him. 

The lady officer has also written a complaint to police saying that the viral chat is violation of her privacy. But she has not mentioned whether the chat is fake or fabricated. The lady officer has suspected and given name of a person to the police. 

The police has registered case under sections of IPC 469 (forging electronic document causing harm to the reputation of any party), 500 (defamation) and conspiracy to defame. The crime branch is investing the matter. 

What P Narhari says 

P Narhari said that the chat being circulated on social media platforms is fake. 

“WhatsApp chat being widely circulated on internet media is fake. It has been created by someone with the mentality of defaming. A complaint was made to the Bhopal in this matter, the Crime Branch has registered an FIR on this matter,” he said.

What police say

The officers of crime branch said that the prima facie, chat looks fake. The complainants have expressed suspicious of some office staff. “We are investing the matter. We will investigate and enquire few people. Then only we can say something on that. It's a sensitive case,” said Shrut Kirti Somavanshi, deputy commissioner crime branch.
