The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Haryana in working overtime. After arresting a 2001 batch IAS Vijay Dahiya, the bureau has arrested one more IAS, a 2019 batch promotee officer Jaibir Singh Arya, who is working as managing director of Haryana State Warehousing Corporation.
The court has sent Arya to a one-day police remand.
According to sources, Arya has been arrested in a bribery case seeking money against transfer of one Rinku Hudda who is working as divisional manager in warehousing corporation.
The Modus Operandi
The ACB sleuths first arrested a middleman Sandeep who is working as district manager in Ambala warehouse. Sandeep was held while accepting bribe of Rs 3 lakh allegedly on behalf of Arya. A case in this regard was lodged on Wednesday. The complete deal was said to have been finalised at Rs 5 lakh.
The ACB after arresting Sandeep told him to call up Arya and inform him about receiving the bribe money. The ACB then on the basis of conversation between the two arrested Arya red handed when he was taking money from Sandeep.
Arya has served for 25 years working for the government of Haryana and the Election Commission of India in various capacities, including an assignment as international observer for Sri Lanka's Parliamentary elections of 2015. He was promoted from state civil services to IAS cadre in 2019.
