Oldest alive IPS at the age of 99 assaulted by caretaker

Former DGP of Madhya Pradesh the oldest alive IPS officer (99 years of age) was allegedly assaulted by his care taker Rafiq khan. 

A case has been registered against Khan when Joshi filed a written complaint against him at Habibganj police station.

Khan was hired through a placement agency. Police has started investigation into the matter.

According to the complaint, the Rafiq wanted to extort money by bullying and threatening Joshi, who used to give a salary of Rs 18,000-20,000 per month to the caretaker. 

The incident took place on Wednesday when Rafiq threatened to kill him if he didn't give Khan money. When Rafiq was trying to strangulate Joshi, the cook of the house Geeta came and Rafiq spared him.

Who is HM Joshi?

HM Joshi is an IPS officer of 1948 batch – the first batch of IPS officer in India. He served as DGP during 1980's. He is father of 1979 batch Arvind Joshi and father-in-law of Tinoo Joshi, who was also an IAS officer.

The Joshi couple was accused in a corruption case, which was probed by multiple agencies including ED and Lokayukta. They were accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income. The investigation had revealed that the Joshi couple had illegally created a fortune of Rs 41 crore, which is more than three thousand times the earnings from their job. The IAS couple had to spend some time in also. Later Arvind Joshi passed away in 2022.
