MP High Court directs state govt to take decision on Nisha Bangre’s resignation by Monday

The Madhya Pradesh government has submitted an affidavit before the Jabalpur stating that it will take decision on resignation of deputy collector Nisha Bangre and the pending department enquiry on Monday.

The double bench of Chief Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra has put the affidavit on record and told government to take decision on Monday and submit action taken report on October 27 – the date of next hearing.

Bangre, who had resigned in June this year after she was denied leave for attending a religious ceremony, is likely to contest election on Congress ticket from Amla assembly seat.

The Congress has declared candidates in all seats but put Amla hold probably for Bangre.

Bangre had moved Supreme Court on Wednesday for getting her resignation accepted from the state government. The Supreme Court had directed High Court to decide on the matter on fast track.

Bangre has time till October 30 to get the relieving from state government and file nomination, which starts from October 21 and ends on October 30.

Bangre has alleged that the state government is deliberately not accepting her resignation as the ruling is afraid of Bangre's popularity in Amla constituency.

Bangre said that four officers had resigned from services which included on judge, one officer, a teacher and a doctor.

“Government accepted resignation of all four within 24 hours. But it is harassing me as I am a supporter of opposite party,” she said.
