The pursuit of deputy collector Nisha Bangre to contest election form Amla on Congress ticket ended as the party announces Manoj Malve as its candidate from Amla in Betul district.
Congress had kept ticket on hold for Bangre but in absence of state government's nod for her resignation, the party had to give this ticket Malve. With this Congress has declared candidates on all 230 seats for November 17 elections.
Earlier, Betul Deputy Collector Nisha Bangre, whose resignation is awaiting the State government's approval, was tipped to be the Congress candidate from the constituency.
Bangre has approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking direction from the government for speedy acceptance of her resignation, which she tendered on June 22.
However, the bureaucrat's petition had been pending as she faces disciplinary proceedings, her counsel, senior advocate Brian De Silva, had said earlier.
While hearing her petition, the High Court in Jabalpur earlier last week directed the State government to take a decision by October 23 on her resignation from service and disciplinary proceedings against her.
However, decision has not come within time and Congress picked Malve as its candidate.
“I had not resigned to contest election. I am firm on my resignation. As far as Congress giving ticket to Malve is concerned, what can I say when acceptance of my resignation is still pending,” said Nisha Bangre.
She said that she will consider whether to contest election as independent or with some other party only after she gets the clearance from state government.
