Modi on road to ‘modify’ sentiments of walled city

The much awaited road show of Prime Minister Narendra Modi – PM's first ever in – received rousing welcome from people. Modi covered four kms in open jeep in one hour and 16 minutes. He was accompanied by BJP chief C P Joshi.

Modi's roadshow was aimed at wooing voters of at least three assembly segments where hold the key. Though he travelled through Kishanpole bazaar only, but his road will have footprints in and Adarsh Nagar assembly segments also.

From Kishanpole assembly, BJP has fielded Chandra Manohar Batwara against Congress' sitting MLA Amin Kagzi. BJP will need a complete polarisation of votes to win this assembly segments where Muslim population constitute almost 40%. The roadshow of Modi was aimed at polarising the votes for Batwara.

Similarly from Hawa Mahal, BJP has fielded a Hindu saint Balmukundacharya against Congress' R R Tiwari. Here also Muslims comprise more than 40% voters.

Adarsh Nagar constituency is also trapped in a similar situation where Congress' Rafiq Khan is taking on BJP's Ravi Nayyar. The victory of BJP in this constituency will depend on how much polarisation the party is able to do after Modi's road show and how many votes Umar daraz, a Muslim candidate from , cut through.
