MNRE Joint Secretary Lalit Bohra likely to get additional charge  

Lalit Bohra, who is working as in union ministry of new & renewable energy, is likely to handle additional charge of another joint secretary Ajay Yadav, who is completing his deputation term of 7 years. 

Bohra, a 1998 batch IRTS currently looking after Wind Energy including Offshore Wind and System including Green Energy Corridors. 

In his additional charge he will have to look after solar energy which includes PLI Scheme for Solar manufacturing, Rooftop Solar programme, PM-KUSUM Scheme, CPSU Scheme and battery Storage.

Ajay Yadav is a 2005 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, who is going back to his home cadre. 

Solar portfolio not new for Bohra

Lalit Bohra, an electrical engineer  from Indian Institute of Bombay and an MBA (Finance) from Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, had handled solar energy portfolio earlier also. He had contributed in the conceptualisation of PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which is aimed at increasing the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity.

Bohra has been on deputation to new and renewable energy ministry for last three years. He has emerged as an accomplished officer involved policy making for solar and wind energy initiatives besides solar panel and cell manufacturing.

A native of Jodhpur, Bohra was the natural choice for inducting in an expert committee set up by . The committee was mandated to study and give suggestions on create delicate balance between conservation and protection of the endangered Great Indian Bustard bird and the country's international commitments to promote renewable sources of energy.
