Yash Jaluka, a 2021-batch IAS officer, who is serving as SDM Naraingarh in Ambala district, was chased by mining mafia and an attempt was made to hit the vehicle he was in.
Haryana police has registered an FIR under the charges of attempt to murder. The incident happened when Yash Jaluka had gone for inspection of illegal mining in Ambala district at midnight.
Jaluka, 29, though returned home safely unhurt. His personal security officer (PSO) constable Jasbir Singh filed FIR on his behalf. Such attacks on officers are not new in the country. In Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, there have been numerous incidents when mining mafias have attacked officers who are looking to crack down illegal mining.
As per the complaint, Yash Jaluka along with his PSO and tehsildar Abhishek Pilania went in a private vehicle to inspect illegal mining in the area. People driving in an Innova car followed Jaluka's vehicle and when Jaluka's driver tried to flag down the Innova, Innova tried to hit the SDM's vehicle.
“After their attempt, Yash Jaluka told his driver to follow the Innova car, which again tried to hit the SDM's vehicle when it came closer,” reported Jasbir Singh, who was accompanying the officer.
Jasbir Singh said that the Innova car driver when held apologised for the attempted hit. As per the police sources, the person in the Innova was related to mining trade and at that time he was doing the surveillance of the area. He was trying to monitor the movement of the officer and share it on the WhatsApp group to alert others involved in illegal mining.
