The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of will interrogate Manju Sharma, Member of Rajasthan Public Service Commission in a case related to  recruitment of Executive Officers (EO).

The case dates back to July 2023 when a former leader Gopal Keshawat demanded bribe for final selection in EO examination. Keshawat was caught red handed taking money from the complainant who said that Keshawat had taken money in the name of Manju Sharma and assured selection in EO examination. 

The ACB had already probed another woman-member Sangeeta Arya on Tuesday at her residence in Ajmer. 

Who is Manju Sharma?

Manju Sharma is wife of famous poet and former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas. She was appointed as member of RPSC in October 2020 and her tenure is till 2026. 

She belongs to Saini community – the community from which former Rajasthan chief Ashok Gehlot comes from. Gehlot had appointed her as the RPSC member to surprise to many as Kumar Vishwas is said to have popularised the term Pappu for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. 

Manju Sharma was a lecturer in a Rajasthan. She was also selected through RPSC. A doctorate from Rajasthan University, Manju Sharma belongs to Ajmer. 

What is the case?

The Sikar ACB had received a complaint for two candidates regarding Gopal Keshawat demanding bribe against their final selection in EO examination 8 months back in July last year. 

The bribe was demanded through an agent Anil Kumar who sought Rs 40 lakh each for selection. As per the deal, Rs 25 lakh was to be given in advance and remaining Rs 15 after selection. Later the deal was said to be closed at Rs 25 lakh. 

The ACB had testified the case and then laid trap to catch agents Anil Kumar and Brahm Prakash taking bribe of Rs 18.50 lakh. The victim through another agent Ravindra Sharma send Rs 7.50 lakh to Gopal Keshawat at his residence in Pratap Nagar. The ACB caught them red handed and during prove, names of RPSC members Sangeeta Arya and Manju Sharma were mentioned.
