Madhup Kumar Tiwari, an IPS officer from the 1995 AGMUT cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the orders on Friday.
He was serving as Special CP Law and Order in Delhi.
Madhup Kumar Tiwari replaced Praveer Ranjan, of the 1993 batch, who has been assigned to the role of Additional Director General in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Ranjan had joined Chandigarh police in August 2021.
The home ministry also issued transfer orders for the DGP of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Davesh Chandra Srivastava, from the 1995 batch IPS, to Delhi. Surender Singh Yadav, a 1997 batch IPS officer, has taken over as the new DGP of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
