Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, a1990 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre, is the new DGP of Haryana. He succeeds PK Agarwal, who retired on 15 August.

Kapoor, a mechanical engineer is the junior most in the list of three IPS officers empanelled by the UPSC and will have a minimum tenure of two years as mandated by the Supreme Court.
According to media reports, Kapoor is said to be close to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who wanted him hold the top
Kapoor, who holds the charge of DG, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the state, may continue to keep the post.
Challenges ahead for Kapoor
Kapoor, due to retire in October 2026, has task cut out. During his tenure, Haryana will be going to polls in October 2024 after the parliamentary elections scheduled in March-April 2024.
His immediate task would be to bring Nuh back to normalcy. The communal riots in Nuh had upset the harmony in the state.
