Kailash Makwana (IPS: 1988: MP) has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh. Makwana will succeed Sudhir Kumar Saxena (IPS: 1992: MP), the current DGP, who is set to retire on November 30. Makwana is scheduled to officially take over the post on December 1, 2024. A meeting of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was held in Delhi on November 21 to decide the name of the new DGP for Madhya Pradesh.
In another related event, Deepam Seth (IPS: 1995: UK) has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand. Seth, who was serving as the Additional Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB). He was recently repatriated to his home cadre. At present Abhinav Kumar (IPS: 1996: UK) is serving as acting DGP of Uttarakhand since November 2023.
