Jalore MP Devji Patel faces strong protest against his candidature in Sanchore, party workers hurl stones at his car

The inside over ticket distribution in Rajasthan took an ugly turn when party workers attacked car of -Sirohi MP Devji Patel, who has been given ticket from Sanchore.

Patel had come to visit Sanchore, an assembly segment of his parliamentary constituency, after getting the ticket. Local BJP workers raised black flags and shouted slogans against the MP.

Workers also tried to block his car, after which Patel's driver sped up the car.

Enraged by this, party workers hurdled stones at car which resulted in breaking of car windows.

Devij Patel, a three time MP from Jalore-Sirohi is facing lot of opposition from local candidate and party workers.

BJP has given him the ticket preferring over Danaram Choudhary, who claimed to have worked hard in last five years for the party.

“I was suspecting attack. So I and clamped up the window of my car. When my driver tried to avoid the situation, people hurdled stones from behind. That broke window pane of two cars including mine. The attackers were from outside the district,” Patel said .

The BJP has announced ticket on 41 seats out which more than12 seats are witnessing visible protest from other contenders and their supporters. These seats include those of seven MPs who have been asked to contest assembly this time.

“Generally there are two strong contenders on every seat and only one sulk after the other gets ticket. Now that MPs who were not in contention earlier, have been chosen to fight, the protest is from both the contenders making the intensity high. We will try to pacify them. Our party is know for internal discipline,” said a senior BJP leader.

BJP state president Arun Singh also said that the situation will improve and protest will soon die down.
