The smut in Rajasthan Public Service Commission is evident with the fact that a ticket aspirant, having pure political ambition, deeply into caste politics, gets a berth in RPSC without even having asked for.
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot admitted that he made Col Kesari Singh a member of RPSC just to keep Makrana seat intact.
“I had met Kesari Singh for once. He had come to me seeking ticket from Makrana. I don't know much about his background. I had a small greed, why to waste Makrana seat, so offered Kesari Singh post of RPSC member looking at his army background,” Gehlot admitted saying that appointment of Kesari Singh is unfortunate.

This reflects the shoddy affairs in RPSC where appointments are made without any background check. Babu Lal Katara, who is in the custody of the directorate of enforcement (ED), is still the member of RPSC. He was jailed, arrested by SOG also. But his name is still intact in RPSC records. Even if it needs President's nod then it's taking extraordinary time. Katara was arrested 6 months back in April.
“The recent events show that RPSC is the dumping ground for politicians. Without any background check, people get appointment so that political interest of the person and party get served. No one keeps future of candidates in mind while appointing the member,” said Rakesh Singh, a political observer.
He said that it is hard to imagine for a person aiming for a ticket in election to get a coveted post of a member in UPSC.
“Unless good people with clean background occupy RPSC, things will not improve. It will remain a place to dump people's political ambitions,” he said.
