After a successful close to three-year stint at ministry of new and renewable energy, joint secretary Lalit Bohra has been repatriated to his parent cadre of Railways.
Bohra has been appointed as Divisional Railways Manager (DRM) Waltair (Visakhapatnam) division. It's a tenure posting of at least two years.
A native of Rajasthan, Bohra had handled both solar and wind energy vertical of new and renewable energy. He has been instrumental in Rajasthan getting awarded 2000 MW solar park from centre.
“Since Bohraji is from Rajasthan, we were able to get approvals in time from centre. He has contributed a lot in Rajasthan becoming the top performing state in renewable energy sector,” said a senior officer in renewable energy sector.
Lalit Bohra, an electrical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and an MBA (Finance) from Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, had handled both wind and solar energy portfolio together in his three year tenure. He had contributed in the conceptualisation of PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which is aimed at increasing the share of solar rooftop capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity.
Bohra was on deputation to new and renewable energy ministry for last three years. He has emerged as an accomplished officer involved policy making for solar and wind energy initiatives besides solar panel and cell manufacturing.
Bohra was also the natural choice for inducting in an expert committee set up by Supreme Court. The committee was mandated to study and give suggestions on create delicate balance between conservation and protection of the endangered Great Indian Bustard bird population and the country's international commitments to promote renewable sources of energy.
