IPS Rajesh Duggal removed from Gurugram by ECI

Rajesh Duggal, a 2010-batch , who is posted as joint in Gurugram, has been transferred to Police Headquarter by Election Commission of India (ECI) following multiple complaints Rajesh Duggal is husband of Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal of BJP. 

Though Sunita Duggal has been denied ticket this time from Sirsa, ECI has decided to remove Rajesh Duggal from the field. 

In last elections also, ECI had received complaints against Rajesh Duggal of helping his wife in publicity and campaign, following which the commission had to take action.

According to sources, political parties complaint that Duggal may help BJP during elections if he was posted in field. So they represented before the commission to remove him from field and transfer him to a relatively non significant post.

Apart from Rajesh Duggal, the ECI has received complaints against chief secretary of Haryana TVSN Prasad, who is also holding charge of important departments – home, jail, revenue, and judicial . As per the guidelines of ECI, Home secretaries having additional charge of more than two departments have to be removed. The ECI is yet to take decision on the removal of chief secretary.

Apart from that, the Election Commission has also received complaints against Ambala police commissioner and Jind SP. 

Meanwhile, the ECI has removed Vijendra Singh, a Haryana Civil Services (HCS) for officer from election duty. Vijendra Singh was serving as Barara SDM. The retirement of Singh due on May 31, 2024 while the election procedure will complete by June 5, 2024. The Election Commission, taking cognisance of the fact, decided to remove him.

The Election Commission is keeping a close watch on the postings of field officers on election duty. It is said removing those who are having additional charges so that officer can devote full time to election duty.
